Small Wins are the BEST!
Yes, you did just read that right.
That title isn’t a typo and I haven’t lost my mind (yet anyway).
Small wins are the best.
Small wins make taking big challenges easy; you build from success to success to success without realizing you have, and, without feeling like you’ve made huge sacrifices.
This is one of the keys to change, sustainable long lasting change.
People who begin huge diets always feel as though they are ‘on’ a diet or ‘off’ a diet. So everything gets sacrificed or cut. They can’t have one food or a certain amount on some days or only certain things on a certain day of the week etc.
It becomes too much for too long, even the most lenient of diets have a fail rate at some point because people get tired of making sacrifices or living a life of yes this and no that.
That’s why small wins are so awesome! You don’t have to say no to everything or yes to the things you hate. You can focus on making small wins at each meal or event or even day. e.g. Going to the cinema you’d normally have a large popcorn and large iced tea
How could we make a small win with this?
Well let’s face it NOBODY finishes the whole bag of popcorn, so make it a medium or even small popcorn.
BOOM. Small win
And then the next time?
Medium Popcorn and my small win will be having a medium iced tea.
The next time?
Small Popcorn and a small Iced tea.
So without even realizing, the small wins have just snowballed into a huge difference.
Imagine that, but with every meal?
Or every time you look at a menu, or every time you look at a vending machine, or every time you look at that delicious cheese covered meatball pizza...Pretty cool, right?
But not only that, but it makes you feel superhuman. You’re taking control over making healthy choices in an easy, long lasting sustainable way. You feel better for not totally cutting everything, but making some kind of small win in a small way.
