Pausing a movie is a luxury we have now. Netflix gives us the ability to pause what we’re watching, go away and take care of something else, then come back to it later.
This is something that has leaked into every aspect on our life, including our health.
We always put it on pause, whether we’re on holiday, it’s summer or it’s close to the end of the year so we’ll start next year.
We’re all guilty of it. Hell, I’ve caught myself doing it.
If you can think of a time you’ve said this, or taken this approach I’ve got one question for ya:
How’s that working out for you?
More often then not you're probably not in the shape you’d like to be, not eating as healthily as you would like and probably feeling a little demotivated from it all.
You might catch yourself thinking, yeah, I’ve done this, or I’m doing this right now because of this etc.
That’s okay! We’re all human and we all make mistakes!
So I’d like to try a thought experiment, what about doing the opposite?
What about instead of thinking, I’ll start in January, or, once this big project is done I’ll get it going.
Think: I’m going to start today by doing this.
Every day take a small action that helps you reach your desired goal. Start planting the seeds to your success now and let the success follow, don’t put your health on ‘pause’.
Like the old Chinese proverb states “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.”
